Tora Sagård

Tora Sagård works as a lecturer in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Oslo New University College (ONH), a position she has had since 2021.

Before joining ONH she worked at the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) as a research assistant, working mainly with coordinating data collection projects.    

Her academic background is within political science, and she graduated with a master’s degree from University of Oslo (UiO) in 2019. She took her bachelor’s degree, also in political science, at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU),  which included a year abroad at the University of Cape Town.   

Over the course of her studies, Tora specialized in international politics and statistical analysis. Her master thesis, which focused on ceasefire durability, won her an award called “våg-å-vite” (Dare to Know), which is awarded annually to students who “dare to challenge established norms in society”.  

At ONH, Tora is responsible for the courses in research methods at her department. She is currently teaching “introduction to research methods”, and “statistical analysis”, while also contributing to courses on international politics and comparative politics.  

Her research interests include ceasefires, violent and nonviolent resistance, causes of war, statistics, and quantitative methods.
